MUSTANG HISTORY [Home]
Texas and Grapevine High School Football
Play began in Texas High Schools in 1920 under the guidance of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) and continued until 1947 under the format which placed larger cities in Conference A districts and smaller towns in Conference B districts. Conference A teams participated in post-season play that culminated in a state champion but the conference B teams only played to BI-District level or one game past district.

Grapevine High School played in Conference B until 1951 when the UIL changed to more familiar 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A format. In 1980 the largest class, 5A was added. GHS began in 1924 as a conference B district school climbing into the Class A ranks as the community grew over the century – ultimately to become a Class 5A school in 2002.

Our site is proud of our history and would like to recognize our accomplishment as a team and as individuals. The links below provide more history information of those who have played the game at GHS.
