The biennial UIL reclassification and realignment for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years will be released Monday, February 1 at 9:00 a.m. CST. The information will be available online via the UIL web site at
www.uil.utexas.edu.
The new alignments, established by enrollment figures submitted to the UIL by its member schools in October, will serve as football and basketball districts for the next two school years.
Previous alignment based on enrollment for the past two years was based on the following numbers.
- 5A 2,085 enrollment & up
- 4A 980 to 2,084
- 3A 430 to 979
- 2A 200 to 429
- 1A 199 & below
Grapevine’s enrollment submitted for the past two years was 2,212. That is only 128 students from being a 4A school. Colleyville Heritage has a much higher enrollment of 2,461 and their numbers appear to be increasing as population moves south.
Grapevine has been 5A since 2000 but won the state championships during the 4A years in the late 1990’s (1995-1999).
See what happens on Monday.
