We can all agree that football is a team sports and that it requires everyone to do their part on the field and on the sidelines. We can also agree that 2009 was not a fluke, everyone came together made it a team success but from those team successes comes individual accomplishments.

The individual accomplishments and accolades are evident from all the awards given in the post season. Some of you guys wonder if I have a point, it’s starting to sound like Bob Sturm on the “The Ticket” but this is called “build-up”.

One year ago March 3rd 2009 was coach Henigan’s first day on the job and that represented the “New Beginning” to the Grapevine Mustangs. When you think about the major change that happened on March 3rd you have to say it was Leadership. Coach Henigan has brought leadership and new vision to the program.

The football program has been energized by a coach who really cares about what a sports program can do in the life of a kid, and the impact and lessons that can be learned fighting through adversity.

This is a team sport but let’s not underestimate the impact of one person…The impact that coach Henigan has brought to the Grapevine Mustangs.
